Dancing is more than moving to a beat; it is an act of intercultural bonding, learning, and simply an expression of joy. The pupils will be able to experiment the joy and pride of being able to learn about another culture through dance. Even though it manifests itself differently in different cultures, dancing is a universal language.
Two types of activities will be presented in Turkey: intellectual and danced activities.
Orally, each team from each country will present the story and history of the dance they will have performed the months before, along with a short biography of a famous dancer or choreographer performing this dance. We will make sure that the 6 countries present 6 different dances. At the end of the project, we will be able to publish a real book or a digital one about all these dances.
Each country will present a video interviewing people about what A GOOD LIFE is according to them. These people will be pupils, school’s staff, parents etc. In international teams, the pupils will then share their idea of what a good life is for them as teenagers. They will write a chart stating important elements to live in a united Europe, freed from all kinds of discrimination, exclusion or bullying. They will develop empathy which is a good way to help the pupils connect as a group, learn to respect differences, get to know others for who they really are, and to realize almost everyone has hardships to overcome.
As far as dance is concerned, after each team will has presented the activities they will have done in each country, Turkey, the hosting country, will privilege traditional or folk dance that will bring to light solidarity and unity between pupils of different nationalities. 6 teams of pupils from the 6 partner countries will perform a traditional dance from each country on stage!
